Cala Llombards

Popular with locals,
small coastal town without package tourism

The Casa Amigos is located in the small, unknown place Cala Llombards on top of the cliffs and surrounded by the beautiful bays "Cala Llombards", "Calo des Moro" and "Cala S Almunia". All of them have appeared on various front pages of travel magazines.
Hot summers warm the sea, swimming pleasure is perceptible until October.
The water is crystal clear, the sandy bottom is for Caribbean shades of color.
The rugged, steep cliffs and the stone arch "Es Pontas" buy for a wildly romantic flair and make the region attractive beyond the bathing season for walks and hikes.
A footpath goes along the cliffs. Again and again there are beautiful viewpoints, some with seating or stairs down to the water.
The Cala Llombards can be reached both by stairs and by car, to Calo des Moro and Cala S Almunia you have to descend many stairs. You will be rewarded with a breathtaking nature reserve that surrounds the two bays.
There is a village bar in town, which is always open except for a few weeks in winter. There are also two small supermarkets / bakeries. In the summer months there is a lounge chair rental and a beach bar with good food on the white beach of Cala Llombards.

Cala Llombards can be reached via an access road that stretches for kilometers through natural and agricultural areas. Only a handful of streets run through the town, the rows of houses are repeatedly interrupted by lush green spaces.
What to do in the southeast
Charmantes Santanyi

Great offer for the whole family

In the nearby resort of Cala d’Or
All common tourist activities are offered at the marina: diving and snorkeling trips, boat tours and charter. There are a variety of restaurants, and in the evening bars and clubs invite you to enjoy the nightlife.
At Porto Cristo are the "Cuevas del Drach", the dragon caves.
With a horizontal length of almost 1,200 meters and at a depth of max. 25 meters below the surface of the earth, they are the largest caves on the island. Inside the caves is a lake, Lago Martel, which is considered one of the largest underground lakes in the world.
From Colònia de St. Jordi you can take day trips to the upstream Cabrera archipelago.
In Ses Salines the "Botanicactus", a botanical garden on 150,000 square meters presents over 12,000 cacti and the typical Mallorcan flora.
The Santuario de Sant Salvador monastery is located on the 510 meter high mountain "Puig de Sant Salvador", located between Felanitx and Portocolom. You have a wonderful panoramic view of almost the entire island from there. Across Palma de Mallorca to Mallorca's largest mountain range, the Serra de Tramuntana, in the northwest to the offshore island of Cabrera in the southeast - and of course to Cala Llombards.
The summit plateau is reached via a serpentine road.

Charming Santanyi
Charmantes Santanyi

Authentic Mallorcan place with history

Santanyi can be reached from Casa Amigos in just under 10 minutes by car.
The beautiful place was founded in the 13th century. In addition to old houses made of natural stone, the city gate and the cathedral testify that this is a place with history and tradition.
A popular weekly market takes place every Wednesday and Saturday on the Placa Major, a pedestrian zone with no car traffic, and the adjacent streets.
Santanyi is known for its galleries and art studios as well as excellent restaurants and is also very popular with locals.
In Santanyi you will find bars, rooftop bars and some good restaurants in rustic, lovingly restored old town houses, where no culinary wish remains open.
The "Sa Cova", a bar in the city center, is operated by a German actor who regularly performs there with his band.
In addition to shops and boutiques that invite you to shop, you will also find everything you need to live and vacation here.

Mallorca's longest sandy beach meets romantic small bays

The entire region is crossed by a variety of hiking and cycling trails. Perfect conditions for long walks, hikes or bike tours, especially outside the summer months! You can start directly from Casa Amigos.
The southeast is largely flat, and the first mountains only rise towards the north. The southern coast is flanked by Mallorca's longest sandy beach "Es Trenc", the east coast consists of cliffs that are regularly interrupted by picturesque small sandy bays, such as the Cala Llombards.
The landscape is either left to nature or agricultural.
Extensive natural stone walls separate the fields, on which sheep herds graze or extensive olive or almond tree plantations stand.
There is pure nature in the extensive sand dunes at Es Trenc or on the rocks at Cap de Salines, the southeasternmost point of the island with a fantastic view of the Cabrera archipelago.
The Mondrago Natural Park is a nature reserve and is home to rare orchids, over 70 different bird species and populations of endangered land turtles. You can hike, go for a walk or take a bath on the two beaches sa Font de n’Alis and s’Amarador in the park.
Individual instead of package tourism

Weekly markets and great gastronomy

The area around Santanyi is known for art, galleries and good gastronomy. In addition to international cuisine, you can enjoy authentic Mallorcan cuisine in old, wonderfully restored walls in many places. There are other good restaurants in nearby Es Llombards, Ses Salines, Campos or Cas Concos.
During the day you stroll through well-stocked small boutiques or visit one of the weekly markets, for example in Santanyi or Campos, enjoy a cool drink and buy fresh goods for dinner at Casa Amigos.
In nearby Cala Figuera, the "Venice of Mallorca" you can buy fresh fish directly from the fishing boats.
The southeast of Mallorca is calm and relaxed compared to other parts of the island. There are hardly any big hotel castles or tourist resort towns and you don't have to make any effort to avoid the few. Most of the towns and villages here have grown historically and the visitors are divided into small, chic hotels or holiday homes.
Mild winter season

Oranges and almond blossoms

When the temperatures on Mallorca drop again, the island turns into a mecca for active vacationers. From autumn to spring, a mild climate ensures perfect outdoor conditions. The Serra de Tramuntana, Mallorca's mountain range in the west, can be reached in less than an hour by car. Beautiful cities like Deia, Valldemossa or Port de Soller are no longer as crowded as in summer, but no less attractive.
If you like it more secluded, opt for remote trails in the southeast.
Bulging orange trees around the turn of the year or the approx. 7 million almond trees on the island, which herald the spring with their magnificent white-pink almond blossom, provide an impressive backdrop.
The long, now almost deserted sandy beach of Es Trenc now invites you to take long walks instead of swimming. Likewise the Mondrago Natural Park. The small chiringuito (beach kiosk) is open all year round and you can also enjoy your drink or a few tapas in January at a pleasant 20 degrees.
From the Piug de Sant Salvador and the monastery on it you have a wonderful view of the south coast. If you catch one of the few rainy days, a trip to Palma's old town is worthwhile. A visit to one of the market halls is not missing to have a second breakfast or early lunch directly at the market stalls.

Typical Mallorca

Wind and water wheels

Every Mallorca vacationer who has ever sat at the window when approaching Palma's airport knows them: Mallorca's wind and water wheels.
On your way from the airport to Casa Amigos, these colorful, typical Mallorca wind turbines will welcome you again on the route between Campos and Santanyi.
The area around Campos is one of three areas on the island where the wind turbines are located. Around 600 in total, and they are as unmistakably connected to the island as the Cathedral of Palma.
A conservation program initiated by the Island Council shows its effect: everywhere in the fields between Campos and Santanyi you can gaze at lovingly restored wind turbines that offer great motifs for your vacation photos.
Most of the wind turbines can be reached by car via side streets or it is best to get on your bike right away. You will be amazed by the largely natural landscape in the triangle Campos - Es Trenc - Santanyi. And everywhere colorful wings stick out between old olive trees.
